Spring forward to a fresh start with Human Nature

By Rachel Grant, Hollywood Actress and Human Nature Brand Ambassador

Spring is in the air and what better time to clear out our cupboards of chemically-infused cosmetics and start afresh going all-natural with organic products.

My beauty cabinet was full of harmful chemicals - ones I could have cleaned the toilet bowl with - until I discovered Human Nature toxin-free cosmetics. Initially, I was attracted to the 100% Philippine brand - a social enterprise directed towards improving the lives of poor farming communities in the country of my birth.

I discovered the brand in Legazpi market in Manila and took a handful home, deliberately picking items with delicious Philippine ingredients like calamansi, gugo bark and moringa (malunggay), to “show off” to my overseas friends. Having enjoyed the products and needing more, I was lead to the Human Heart Nature website.

It was here I learned how ingredients found in everyday cosmetics are potentially damaging to our health and linked to various cancers. Ironically, ingredients found in makeup and lotions I had worn to cancer awareness red carpet events!

From lipsticks to lotions, a toxic mixture of unpronounceable synthetic chemicals is churned into cosmetics, the same found in daily household cleaning products we keep under the sink! The effects of these ingredients are more than just skin deep.

The skin is the largest organ of the body, made up of the epidermis and beneath it, the dermis full of little blood vessels. Skin is highly permeable, designed to eliminate toxins from the body through its blood vessels and out through detoxification pores. Yet by applying chemically-infused products we are doing the reverse, with 60% of what we put on to our skin absorbed directly into our blood stream. Additionally, many of these skin-care products damage the skin barrier and clog detoxification pores, leading to a host of allergic conditions and other skin problems.

The American Cancer Society recently released a groundbreaking study concerning synthetic chemicals in cosmetics likely to have played a significant role in the rising incidence of breast cancer. Yet cosmetic industries are still permitted to put harmful chemicals linked to breast cancer, infertility and birth defects into pretty packages advocating radiance and rejuvenation.

With sufficient evidence - like cigarettes, once considered unharmful and fashionable - surely cosmetic packaging should sport similar health warnings and images? Would you buy a deodorant emblazoned with graphic images and the words: “Warning: Contains parabens - chemicals linked to breast cancer”.

For the first time ever, Human Nature’s laboratory has developed an all natural highly effective 100% Philippine-made deodorant, introducing the wonders of "chitosan".

Sweat is odorless; it is the bacteria on the skin that creates an offensive body odor, and moist, warm underarms are the perfect breeding ground! Chitosan is found deep down in the seas, derived from shells of sea crustaceans (a byproduct of the seafood industry).

It is a natural, non-toxic, biodegradable, anti-bacterial alternative to the common chemical ingredient, alcohol, found in all commercial deodorants.

This also means goodbye to dark underarms caused by alcohol in deodorants; chitosan has no such side-effect! It has even been clinically proven to promote wound healing, anti-itching, is anti-microbial and an excellent skin moisturizer. Furthermore, Human Nature does not use antiperspirant actives such as aluminum salts, now linked to breast cancer, reproductive system toxicity and neurotoxicity. Human Nature is the pioneers of chitosan as a deodorant active!

Human Nature is not only good for us, but good for the environment and helps poor farming communities by enabling them to make use of their mineral-rich lands which are abundant with fine flora and fauna.

In fact, the Philippines is one of only 17 countries on earth classified as "megadiverse". Megadiverse countries harbor the majority of the earth’s species. There are over 52,000 species found in the Philippines and over 13,500 species of plants – amazingly 5% of the world’s total flora and fauna! It is unsurprising why Human Nature sources all its organic ingredients in the Philippines. Why go elsewhere when 5% of the world’s total plant life is found in this megadiverse archipelago! The Philippines can be considered the most megadiverse country in terms of land density and density in flora and fauna.

Wake up to a new dawn: spring forth onto good health and happiness with these wonderful organic products and start your day afresh with Human Nature’s latest deodorant.

Human Nature products are now available at your local Seafood City supermarkets or you can visit the website at www.humanheeartnature.com/usa.
